Dr. Mark Bowler

Lecturer in Wildlife, Ecology and Conservation Science, University of Suffolk, UK

I research wildlife distributions in the UK and Amazonia, and the effects that human activity has on animal populations. I’m also active in science communication and conservation.

PhD enquiries:

I’m interested in hearing from prospective PhD students wanting to work on projects on:

  • the spatial ecology and bioacoustics of primates and/or other mammals

  • wildlife in agricultural landscapes in East Anglia

  • the ecology of harpy eagles and other Amazonian eagles

  • citizen science and conservation tourism.

Although my research is focused on the Peruvian Amazon and the UK, other regions are also of interest where applicants are already familiar with suitable sites.

“I work on tropical biology and conservation, sometimes with camera traps, sometimes with remote audio surveys, and sometimes in the rainforest canopy...”
